In my book I talk a lot about different warriors who I admire. Alexandra Scott was one of them, a little girl with a big agenda – To raise money for cancer research.
Alexandra Scott proves that age is no barrier to becoming a Warrior. Before she died of cancer at the age of eight, she had raised more than $1.5 million for cancer research. Diagnosed with neuroblatoma—an aggressive form of childhood cancer during her first year, Alex went on to make the most of her short life. She began by setting up a lemonade stand in front of her house to raise money for cancer research—raising $2,000 her first year. After appearing on Today and The Oprah Winfrey Show, lemonade fund-raisers were set up in all fifty states, with Alex becoming the spokesperson for the cause, despite her waning health. And the cause that Alex championed continues today, with a goal this year of raising more than $5 million.
